Networking and Leadership

Because of their close association with the Pitt Alumni Association, SAA members enjoy some of the best opportunities to interact with both Pitt alumni and top campus administrators. SAA members also are encouraged to serve in leadership roles as members of the Blue and Gold Society, the University's student ambassadors.

Friends and Fun

With more than 1,500 student members, the SAA is a great way to make friends and get involved with fun events, including the SAA picnics, annual homecoming festivities, and the Cathedral Ball—a December formal exclusively for SAA members and their guests.

What is the SAA?

The Student Alumni Association, better known as the SAA is one of the most popular and active student groups on campus. Members enjoy exclusive opportunities to interact with alumni, meet campus leaders, and share their Pitt pride by helping to promote Pitt traditions across campus.

What does my membership fee support?

The fee supports the SAA’s many networking opportunities such as Dinner with 12 Panthers, exciting events including the Cathedral Ball and SAA Day, and exclusive perks, notably the Panther Pack and Beat Cup Series giveaways.

How can I join?

Do I have to attend meetings?

All SAA General Body meetings are completely optional for members but attendance is highly encouraged so that members can connect with one another and take advantage of meeting other #PittTraditionKeepers.

How long does my membership last?

Annual Membership lasts the entire academic year, from August to April.

Do I have to join each year?

Yes, you have to join each year and pay the annual membership fee of $20.

Who can join? 

Any current undergraduate student at Pitt can join. There are no restrictions based on class, major or GPA.
